Via ferratas

Via Ferrata, (Klettersteig or ‘Iron Ways’), provide exciting scrambling and climbing in exposed situations, but with the safety of constant attachment to fixed wires and large staples for hand and foot holds. Many of the carefully maintained via ferrata of the Dolomites date back to the early 20th century, while new routes can be found in other parts of the Alps, particularly the French Alps.
