Introducing the Cicerone School
Cicerone is supporting the Juniper Trust to rebuild Rawa Dolu School and provide a three classroom school and a toilet block for the 50 children in the village. Here's an update before work begins.
As part of our 50th celebrations Cicerone are fundraising for two charities, the Bendrigg Trust and the Juniper Trust. We will donate £1 per book sold on our website to these charities, and additional donations from Cicerone customers will also be very welcome.
Cicerone will be supporting the Juniper Trust in the rebuilding of a school in Rawa Dolu, in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Rawa Dolu is a small and remote village about 100km from Kathmandu but close to the trekking route from Jiri to Everest.
The whole village was badly damaged in the 2015 earthquakes which had such a devastating effect on Nepal. At the time Cicerone made donations to the earthquake appeal and we feel it is right to continue to help Nepal in their efforts to restore normality in such simple but important endeavours as education. Four years later the children of Rawa Dolu are still being taught in a temporary shelter with poor facilities. The school at Rawa Dolu is in desperate need of rebuilding so that staff and pupils have a comfortable and safe space to learn.
Cicerone is supporting the Juniper Trust to rebuild Rawa Dolu School and provide a three classroom school and a toilet block for the 50 children in the village. We hope to raise £20,000 to complete Rawa Dolu School by October 2019 and we look forward to seeing the progress as it develops.
