Dolomites

The Dolomites are an exciting and prime holiday destination in both summer and winter. Superbly located resorts such as Cortina, Bressanone, Bolzano and Belluno are connected by excellent public transport, while an ultramodern system of cable-cars can provide quick access to the higher mountains. The Dolomites are designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site, creating a memorable alpine playground. While Day Walks in the Dolomites are incredibly varied, many taking up to a full day to complete, Walking in the Dolomites provides the walker with routes to tackle over two or three days, staying in a variety of the well situated mountain huts of the region. Trekkers will enjoy the Alta Via routes, AV1 and AV2 being the most suitable for walkers, while via ferratas, for which the Dolomites are perhaps best known, can be tackled by the well equipped and experienced. Winter visitors will find plenty of opportunities for ski touring.
