John Young is a retired lawyer who continues to be active in the business world as a company director and charity trustee. In his spare time he also continues to pursue his lifelong passions for Scottish and Alpine mountaineering, climbing, hillwalking, trekking and off-piste skiing. He has walked numerous classic long-distance treks in the UK and Europe and “compleated” the Scottish Munros(3000ft peaks) in 2007; he hopes to ascend his final Corbett (Scottish 2500ft hills) some time in the next few years. He is a member of the Alpine Club and Club 4000, the organisation that brings together those who have summited at least 30 of the 82 4000-metre peaks in the European Alps.
